Venimus ex stellis et ad stellas redimibus 2020

Due to the impact of Covid-19 we were not required to complete any physical work, but its a long way to come to accept that fate.

The photos you see are of my final work,    This work is a meshing of two environments, of bot h home in Australia and that of here in Lubbock, Texas. THe horses represent humans making their way across the tundra, blind, heads bound permanently, signifying our blind faith in what happens around us. Juxtaposed to that is the tender way we are bound, faith in the kindness of strangers, signifying our place and the nurturing it provides, healing us from the inside.

The mountains contain a message too, on close inspection the viewer finds rubbish such as foam, beer cans and cardboard amongst the layers of eroded rock. Humanity  has forced itself upon the landscape, infusing its waste upon the Earth which is now exposing our neglect.

The backdrop too is a reflection of both lands. The 'Crux Australis', or 'Southern Cross', guides our travellers home and is also a reflection of Texas, the Lone Star State.
